In a very rare opportunity when the babies were both asleep I decided to dive in to a hefty project, though not really…
I thought I would personally see just how hard it was to make these burlap and lace table runners that are popular and yet so expensive to buy on Etsy. Turns out it really wasn’t that hard at all!
I got my supplies at Michael’s Craft Store and Joann Fabrics
All I needed was:
10’x3′ Burlap Table runner $12.99 x 2 = $25.98
Lace Trim $17.94
Silk Lace Ivory $9.99
Super Weight Hem Tape $2.99
All I had to do was lay out the runner, turn on the iron, do a test spot to make sure I didn’t melt the lace and just press away.
I cut strips of the hem tape, which melts clear. lay it between the burlap and lace and ta-da!
The hardest part was seriously keeping the burlap straight. I made 2 runners, one of each style, a white lace and a vanilla/ivory silk lace. I didn’t even use the whole roll of ivory lace, but I did go through all of the hem tape and the white lace.
Break down:
Supplies for 2 runners + 30 Minutes = $56.90
I did have an oops on one where I left the iron hovering too long (you do have to be quick) and it melted. I just overlapped and kept going.Â
