There are a few things to consider when marking out your parking plan if you are building your own. {such as in a field} See Project Block 1, How to Coordinate Wedding Guest Entry Here. If you’re getting married at a venue with a designated parking lot you’re probably all set as they’ve already made these accommodations. But if not, think about your guest list and who is actually on it. Remember that you are playing host on your big day and you’ll want to provide your guests with the best experience possible. This starts in the parking lot. There are actually 3 types of wedding guests who might require accommodations:
Grandparents
Inform their drivers, or them if they are driving themselves that they have a reserved spot up front or that they can be dropped off right at the front door and that the driver will turn around to go park in the field. Grandma should not have to walk through the field, or even across the hot pavement for that matter. I like the idea of reserving a spot for them anyway because who knows, they could be late and you don’t want them stuck in the farthest parking spot. Consider this small preventative fix to a potential inconvenience.
Pregnant Mommies
Similar to grandparents, let them know that they can be dropped off at the front door. Bonus points if you tell them ahead of time where the bathrooms are and have water for them at the door! Consider a Mommy Lounge area too for breastfeeding with back supports if you’re using hale bales everywhere else!
Vendors
Often vendors {me included} will be leaving your wedding before any of your guests. We also need our vehicles to work out of for you. Consider where we can park that is easily accessible. Also, out of the way for pictures. Then most importantly, where won’t be blocked in when we need to leave. Nobody likes having to hunt down the driver blocking us in!
