It is really time to start building up those project blocks ladies! This is a phenomenal time of the year for shopping, A) everything is on some sort of sale, B) Christmas has really taken that rustic and natural turn that we all love to work into our weddings and we should capitalize on the discount decorations that only come out once a year.

This is a preparatory post getting you motivated to build up a few of your Project Blocks (Re-read your Wedding Organizers about these). Pull your pictures off of Pinterest, or send them to me and let’s start getting some stuff on paper! Primarily we need to build a SHOPPING LIST. Three major opportunities are approaching: Black Friday, Christmas Decorations, and After Christmas Clearances.

5 Wedding Decorations to Snag on Black Friday

Candles

I want you all to mentally calculate how many candles you’ll need: pillar, votive and tea light. Christmas is the cheapest time of the year plus you’ll get great colors you don’t get elsewhere. Make a list and prepare to buy when the time is right!

Rustic

If you are one of our Rustic and Woodsy Brides- prepare some project blocks that are geared towards the “tree” element. This means barks, cake pedestals, wooden decorations, and even burlap ribbons are now a common Christmas thing!

This is your Project Block for “Ceiling”, “Windows”, “Trees” on your venue atmospheres

Wedding Party Gifts

Themed wrapping paper that matches and is even woodsy (watch out for snowflakes, they tend to sneak into the papers that even look non-Christmas 😉

All the Sparkle

If you are one of our Gold or Silver Sparkle Brides you’ll want to be on the lookout for candles that are gold or silver, glitzy garlands, rhinestones, and even some ornaments that don’t really look “Christmas” but are never available any time of the year. These are what we hang from chandeliers, Manzanita branches and even our centerpieces!

Bottom Line: We don’t want you to miss great deals on the stuff you need to produce your vision. Start those Project Blocks!

What to do right now

Itemize out the individual elements that building each picture and create a basic shopping list. Keep that list visible in your home, kitchen, car, desk or wherever you’ll see it a lot and be able to mentally edit or add to it before Black Friday.

Serving Stuff: chaffers, chargers, silverware, dishes, displays, MICHEAL’S CRAFT STORE, don’t miss their sale on Thanksgiving, but you have to be prepared for it so you go in knowledgeable (1/2 price burlap runners girls, seriously!)

Christmas Shopping: This goes without saying. All sorts of things pop out in stores this time of year that we never see: Bronze, metal lanterns, charger plates, and so much more. Hot spots: World Market, Pier 1 and TJ Maxx.

World Market just released a tree cake pedestal which I have no doubt will go so fast!

Linens: My favorite source has their biggest discount sale OF THE YEAR this weekend on Black Friday AND Cyber Monday. They do all Black, White & Ivory on Friday and then the whole site on Monday. Don’t miss it if you’re ordering linens! In fact, load up your cart now so you’re faster to check out and they don’t sell out before you cash out!

After Christmas Binge: Wrapping paper Tissue paper to make those pom poms we see in Martha Magazines, gift boxes, votive candles, ornaments, lights, and a ridiculous amount of other wedding savvy purchases. Don’t miss out!
