
Let’s talk about CAKE! This is one of my favorite Project Blocks, because, well, I love cake… There are many ways to do the wedding dessert from cupcakes to pies and candy buffets but having a traditional wedding cake is fun for so many reasons. Here is the Progress Checklist for all this week’s Project Block. Have all these items checked and DONE prior to starting the next Project Block Week so you stay on track.
Week 16 Progress Checklist
- Review the Week 15 Progress Blog Post again
- Watch the Teachable Lecture for Project Block 13
- HIRE A BAKER
- Make appointments and attend tastings
- Review and sign a contract: Including delivery & setup
- ORDER CAKE(s)
- Order Cake(s) = Which size(s)
- Cutting Cake & Sheet Cakes or Full Wedding Cake
- Order Cupcakes = Which Flavor(s)
- Include dairy-free, vegan, and gluten-free options
- Order Groom’s Cake {optional} = Which Size
- Order Cake(s) = Which size(s)
- DISPLAY & SERVING
- Designate area for cake table: Rent proper furniture, linens & accessories
- Rent or purchase cake plates, napkins, forks, cupcake liners (if special color theme)
- Purchase cake knife & server, cake topper
- Purchase to-go or carryout boxes for the end of the night
- Make/print behavioral and flavor signage

- DESSERTS & EXTRAS
- Rent Candy & Dessert Buffet serving dishes or jars
- Estimate candy amounts & purchase wholesale/bulk
- Pre-dress display table for spacing
- Make labels & signs
- Ask people you want to make desserts for a dessert bar.
- Designate a Liaison to receive them at the wedding with their dessert
- Place table spacing and serving dishes
- Create labels: “Courtesy of” “Contributed by” etc. to give proper credit
- Rent Candy & Dessert Buffet serving dishes or jars
- TOP TIER PLAN
- Are you saving the top tier of your cake for your anniversary?
- If yes, inform your cake cutting crew {caterer/coordinator}
- Purchase and provide proper supplies
- MAIL SAVE THE DATES
- You should be about 8-7 months before the wedding
