Inspire Others...

Video- Project Block 17 Lecture.mp4

This Project can get a little sentimental and may exist for you on several levels, all of which I think are important. Sadly, not everyone we love can attend our wedding days, but you can bring them there with you to celebrate.

Some Homages are worn by you, displayed in a picture frame on a ceremony seat of given a complete display during your reception. Big or small, it is the gesture and sentiment that count. Not everyone knows how to pull that off with grace and we hope to guide you… since we put a premium on its importance.

Building your Worksheet

Image:

Find a fun image that showcases the shape you want this Project Block to take. Is it built up out of crates? Or my personal favorite, a ladder? Will you have framed pictures of loved ones in ceremony seats or will you be wearing something special?

Ingredients:

The first and most important ingredient for this Project is the tributary items. These may be pictures of the people you’re commemorating or keepsakes and memorabilia. Identify what you want to display.

**Word of caution/experience- If you are commemorating someone who has a significant other attending the wedding, PLEASE clear this Project with him/her first. Sometimes these displays can be very hard to look at for their significant others, especially if the passing of their loved one happened recently. You absolutely must make sure that the surviving loved ones are comfortable with and informed of whatever it is you choose to do.

Prior to Wedding:

Obtain all of the tributary items, and frame them or rent easels to display them. If you are wearing anything or having items made such as a fingerprint necklaces or tribute jewelry you’ll want to order that as soon as possible.

  1. TRIBUTES
    • Decide on all the loved one you would like to honor
      • *Please be aware of who you may be leaving out. Doing some may require doing all.
    • Ask/collect pictures to print
    • Frame pictures
    • Identify where Tribute Frames will “sit” for the ceremony and reception
    • Name a Transition Liaison for P17 so no frames are left alone
  2. HOMAGES
    • Decide on your homage displays: Relationship, Engagement, Grandparents, Slideshow, etc
    • Ask/collect pictures to print
    • Frame pictures
    • Identify where Tribute Frames will “sit” for the ceremony and reception
      • This may be a permanent display table or across other Project Blocks
  3. SLIDESHOW
    • Decide on a Slideshow Presentation
    • Collect pictures & organize them into Power Point
      • Add music
    • Provide your DJ with a Flash Drive of the Slideshow
    • Rent/Buy Screen/Projector System
    • Decide when/where you’re going to show the slideshow
      • At Rehearsal Dinner, during P6, P14, etc.
      • Communicate slideshow presentation showing and timing with proper vendors {DJ, Venue, etc}

Staging Materials:

The staging of this Project may be relatively fluid as pieces can move. If you are leaning framed pictures on ceremony chairs, you’ll have to carry them to the reception and redisplay them. You can’t just leave them out there. You can either give them a reception chair too or create another Project Block display for them. This can often turn shrine looking and if that is okay with you, it’s okay with me. You can also light special candles for each person on the reception tables if you’re planning to store the picture away after the ceremony. The essential point: be prepared to move and redisplay as needed and even assign a Liaison for P17 if needed.

Wedding Day Set Up:

If items are arriving with guests {such as the framed pictures} make sure you have your P17 Liaison there to receive them and know who is bringing them. You’ll also want this person in charge of making sure your guest gets his/her picture back at the end of the night before they all leave.

Then per the usual drill…

  • Check off when the Project is Done, Packed and Ready to Go {at least the pieces you’re bringing for display}
  • Check off when this Project is loaded into a Big Day vehicle
  • Assign the Person who is setting it up for you {if different than the Person in Charge}
  • Name your Person in Charge. He or she will then take over the Worksheet and check off the remaining Wedding Day Set Up boxes as they are completed.
