A big decision to make, if your venue doesn’t make it for you, is whether or not you’re going to include children at your wedding. We don’t mean Flower Girls or Ring Bearers… we mean if guests are allowed to bring their children to the reception. For some couples it is an emphatic “No!” and for others they put out grand coloring stations and hula hoop obstacle courses. We’d love to share with you a few ways to incorporate the kids at your wedding… and help you make a decision.
Building your Worksheet
Image:
You can even have several images if you need to and remember, you can always turn Kid’s Activities into its own P18B if your worksheet gets too cluttered. I imagine most of your images will be of lawn games set up or how you’ll want to display a Kid’s Station. Find all sorts of inspiration on the Project Block 18 Pinterest Board
Ingredients:
These items might be easier than you think to collect because I bet you know someone who has one in his/her garage and it just needs to travel. If you are doing Activity Kits for kids, Moms love to step in and do this one! Or, delegate it to the junior bridesmaids and the teenage girls you have in your life who are looking for a Project to help with. Send them on a trip to the DollarTree and they’ll have a blast!
Prior to Wedding:
- LAWN GAMES: Contact and connect with everyone who owns a lawn game that you want to borrow.
- Either obtain it now or get it from them a few weeks before the wedding.
- Bonus, if you are getting married at a private venue have the owner go drop it off there any time before the wedding!
- KIDS STATION
- Get a head count for total kids and age range
- Determine if you want to do individual kits or a group table/station
- Purchase supplies for individual kits
- Purchase supplies for group table
- Designate a location for this P18 at your venue
- Identify a few P18 Liaisons who can rotate shifts for supervision at a group table
Call some rental companies if you’re going big and order anything off Amazon that you need for the Kid’s Boxes.
Staging Materials:
Here is my caution with the lawn games + children. I cringe when I see horseshoes being throw near where kids are aimlessly running around. So, when you are setting up your staging, consider putting the adult/heavy objects being thrown games as far away from the kids as possible. Create space for them to avoid any injuries and make sure that parents know adults are throwing things.
Wedding Day Set Up:
If items are arriving with guests {such as the lawn games} make sure you have your P18 Liaison there to receive them and know who is bringing them. You’ll also want this person in charge of making sure your guest gets his/her games back at the end of the night before they all leave.
Then per the usual drill…
- Check off when the Project is Done, Packed and Ready to Go
- Check off when this Project is loaded into a Big Day vehicle
- Assign the Person who is setting it up for you {if different than the Person in Charge}
- Name your Person in Charge. He or she will then take over the Worksheet and check off the remaining Wedding Day Set Up boxes as they are completed.
